Faux Wood Blinds

There is less maintenance associated with faux wood blinds than many other blinds. Cleaning faux wood blinds is a simple process and requires little effort.

Things You Will Need:

  • Duster/Swiffer

  • Clean Soft Rag

  • Vacuum Brush

I personally dust my blinds regularly. A light dusting between each slat of the blind will remove surface dirt, dust, and hair that accumulates. A feather duster or Swiffer can be used to dust the blinds while they are still hanging in your window. A soft cloth can also be used as a dusting tool for more stubborn areas.

Vacuum the blind clean with a soft brush attachment after you have dusted to get any loose debris.

For a deep clean you can wash the blinds. Faux wood blinds are like a hard plastic which means they can be washed using soap and water. If there are stains you can wash the blinds with a non-abrasive soap and warm water. DO NOT use hot water as it could damage the integrity of the blinds. Dawn dish soap should do the job for this type of cleaning project.

You may find it easier to take your faux wood blind down to clean it with soap and water. Depending on the model you can take the slats out to be cleaned one at a time or take the whole blind down. Make sure to rinse your blinds thoroughly after washing and never use harsh chemicals on your blinds.

Let your faux wood blinds dry before re-hanging them in your window. If you cleaned your blinds in your window, you could turn on a fan to increase drying time.

Always use care when cleaning any blinds as damage, stains, discoloration to cords, chain, slats, valance, headrail, tilt rod, hardware, or any part of the window covering resulting from regular maintenance, cleaning or operation will be covered under the manufacturer's warranty.
